There are too many of them.
That’s how I know this is already less of an incident, and instead has become simply… content.

Miss Furry smiles at the mob of reporters.

She licks her paw and shuffles through some notes.

But before she can speak:

"IS THE VIDEO REAL"
"DID HE ATTACK A COP"
"WHERE IS MICHEAL GRAVES RIGHT NOW"
"WHY HASN’T HE BEEN CHARGED"

Miss Furry raises one finger.

The noise doesn’t stop immediately, but they calm down enough.

"I’m sorry," she says, all bright and polite, "but you’re going to have to pick one."

A few voices push through the rest.

"THE FOOTAGE!"
"THE BODYCAM!"
"THE OFFICER!"

She nods, taking a moment to choose her response carefully.

"The cartoon?"

Silence and confusion befall the crowd of reporters.

They begin murmuring among themselves.

"That’s what we’re calling it, right?"

More confusion.

"Yes, I’ve seen it, everyone’s seen it. It’s very popular. Congratulations to whoever generated it."

Confusion begins to rot into irritation.

"But I do have to ask! Are we seriously pretending that’s real footage?"

Someone tries to interrupt. “B—” She doesn’t let them. "I mean—just look at it! The colors are exaggerated. The movement doesn’t look natural. There’s dialogue, but then there’s a ‘shhh’ bubble."

She giggles at the absurdity.

"That’s not actually real bodycam footage, obviously anyone can see that!"

Belief collapses the moment it becomes embarrassing.

"ARE YOU SAYING IT’S FAKE?"

Miss Furry blinks.

"Fake? In relation to a pro-wrestler? Oh goodness, no. I’m just saying it’s silly to think that Micheal Graves, fresh off a sidelining concussion—AND after working so hard to earn the opportunity to reclaim his championship—would throw it all away by releasing evidence of a crime he allegedly committed…

And that it was definitely a cartoon."

She flips a page in her notes.

"It’s very easy to turn anything into footage now. Faces. Voices. Situations. AI does it in seconds. I get sent things like this constantly."

Suddenly a monitor that you didn’t notice earlier, begins playing a montage of fake Micheal Graves clips behind her. You know it’s fake too, because in some of the clips he’s being nice to people.

"For all we know, it’s just one of the countless forgeries floating around the internet."

Another reporter cuts in.

"SO YOU’RE DENYING IT?"

She tilts her head.

"I’m denying that a cartoon constitutes evidence!"

Outrage collapses when it isn’t rewarded.

"WHAT ABOUT THE COP?"
"IS THERE A MISSING OFFICER?"

That one, she points!

"Thank you!"

The crowd quiets again.

"Is there a missing police officer? A name? A report? Any department that’s come forward and said maybe it was one of theirs?"

Silence as they look to her for an answer.

They want her to say no.
She says nothing instead.
Silence leaves no one to argue with.

The questions don’t stop altogether, but they do lose confidence and stop overlapping.

And that's when she's done with them.

"Look," she says with a warm smile, "I understand why videos like this spread. But internet hysteria isn’t evidence. If there’s any solid evidence pointing towards misdoing, then please bring it to us.

We’ll cooperate fully with law enforcement."

She straightens herself.

"But until then, I don’t think it’s productive to treat a cartoon like a crime scene."

She smiles.

"Thank you all for coming."

She steps away.

No one stops her.

A few attempt one last question.

"What about Steve? Is he really dead?"

She ignores all of them.

They’ll argue about what they think they saw.
Good.
Certainty takes work.
Doubt sustains itself.
And even if they resume shouting questions…
The plan keeps moving.
